The History

Bayview Kindergarten was established in a hall on the corner of Bayview Terrace and Summer Street. To gain affiliation with the Crèche and Kindergarten Association (C&K), it was necessary to achieve certain standards – the employment of a qualified teacher being the first step. In 1979 we moved to our present location and embarked on the tasks of building up equipment and establishing a quality Kindergarten program.

Having gained affiliation, we then received the support of and some financial assistance from the C&K Association. C&K is responsible for setting and ensuring that all affiliated centres maintain minimum standards, thereby becoming eligible for State Government Funding. The centre is also governed by and licensed under the Education and Care Services National Law Act (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

Our centre complies with the Act and Regulations including:

  • Requirements relating to activities, experiences and programs.
  • Number of staff members and children.
  • Staff qualifications.

C&K Bayview Kindergarten, is a COMMUNITY KINDERGARTEN. The word ‘community’ means that parent involvement is an integral part of the running of the centre. You, as parents, commit yourselves to this responsibility when you decide to send your child to a community kindergarten.

Bayview has continued to improve and expand its facilities and services over the years due to the involvement and dedication of its parents and staff. As an established centre, Bayview is able to offer the best in early childhood resources for kindergarten (pre-prep) aged children.

Our Kindergarten has undergone a significant transformation over the past 12 months. These improvements were made possible after three successful grant approvals were obtained, and have helped to modernise and enhance the services this Kindergarten is able to provide.

The Department of Education, Training and Employment Grant awarded us over $100,000 to upgrade our car park, perimeter fence and shade sail. These important changes have made the Kindergarten safer, more functional, and aesthetically pleasing for all our families.

We also received the Gambling Community Benefit Grant and the Enhancement Grant to a total of approx. $43,000. With this money we have repainted, laid new flooring inside and out, constructed the wooden fence, purchased an electronic Smart Board, installed roller shutters for the veranda, and purchased laptops, picnic tables, iPads and accessories.

Grant applications required a dedicated team of Committee members and their supportive partners to research, problem solve, and collate all the necessary processes and intricate detail inherent in such an endeavour. We would like to, acknowledge the 2012 Committee and their families.
